About

Phi Eta Sigma was founded on March 22, 1923, to encourage and reward high scholastic achievement among first-year students at the University of Illinois. Our first national convention was held at the University of Illinois in 1928. Since then, there have been 45 National Conventions located all across the country, from Salt Lake City, Utah to Charleston, South Carolina. We are excited to welcome everyone to the 47th National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio in Fall 2023!

Our Host City

"This is The Land. The Land for keeping ‘em talking. The Land for getting inspired. And The Land for living it up. No matter what, we’re never losing sight of who we are or who we’re always going to be. And for that, you’re welcome."

Can I bring guests?

No, the Phi Eta Sigma National Convention is exclusively for student members, chapter advisors, and volunteers. Only registered attendees will be allowed to participate in Convention programming. This includes but is not limited to our ceremonies, workshops, and special events.

Is there an age requirement?

Yes, all convention attendees must be at least 18 years old to attend.

I transferred to another school that doesn't have Phi Eta Sigma but was inducted at my previous school. Can I still attend the National Convention?

No, convention attendance and registration are limited to active undergraduate student members and their chapter advisors, and student members who wish to attend must have their registration authorized by their chapter's advisor. Therefore, if a member transferred to another institution without an active chapter, even if they are still an undergraduate, they would not have the ability to seek approval from a current chapter advisor and as a result could not attend.

I was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma at my undergraduate institution but have now graduated and enrolled in graduate school. Can I still attend the National Convention?

No, similar to the answer above, our convention programming is for current undergraduate members and advisors, so members in graduate school are not allowed to attend as well.

What if I need to refund a portion or all of my registration?

If a chapter needs to request a refund for any of its registration for Phi Eta Sigma's 2023 National Convention in Cleveland, it must request the refund in writing via email to hq@phietasigma.org before midnight Central on Oct. 3, 2023.
